Special Education

The Department of Special Education and Student Services supports students, families, and staff in alignment with federal and state requirements. Our work reflects Bellwood School District 88’s commitment to a rigorous and relevant education for all students through the 3E framework of Excellence, Equity, and Engagement.

Guided by the core values of Professionalism, Adaptability, Support, and Empathy (PASE), the department is committed to supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of students through school-based programming and strong family and community partnerships.

Our goal is to prepare students for college, career, and life through meaningful learning experiences.

Special Education Services:

Bellwood School District 88 provides a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) to eligible students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment as required by:

• Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
• Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
• Article 14 of the Illinois School Code

The District supports inclusive practices and ensures students receive services and supports designed to meet their individual needs in appropriate educational settings.
