Student Dress Code

Acceptable

• Plain, solid-color polo shirts in approved school colors
• Long-sleeve or short-sleeve polo shirts
• Plain white polo shirts
• School-approved or District-approved spirit wear
• Plain, solid-color hoodies and sweatshirts without logos, graphics, or wording

Not Acceptable

• Shirts with logos, prints, embroidery, or graphics
• Tank tops
• Cutoff-sleeve shirts
• Crop tops or midriff-baring shirts
• Clothing that exposes the abdomen

Note: Hoods may not be worn inside school buildings at any time.

Acceptable

• Pants of any color, including jeans
• Plain black pants
• Knee-length shorts
• Knee-length skirts

Requirements

• Clothing must be free of holes, tears, rips, or patches
• Bottoms must be worn above the hips
• Undergarments must not be visible
• Pants should be worn at the natural waist and secured appropriately

Not Acceptable

• Leggings
• Jeggings
• Biker shorts
• Yoga pants
• Leather pants

Acceptable

• Athletic shoes/gym shoes
• Closed-toe shoes
• Closed-heel shoes that are properly fastened and tied

Not Acceptable

• Flip flops
• Sandals
• Croc-style footwear

For safety reasons, students must wear appropriate footwear each day. Gym shoes are required for all physical education classes and recess activities.

Permitted

Head coverings worn for religious purposes, including but not limited to:

• Hijabs
• Yarmulkes
• Kippahs
• Niqabs
• Burkas

Not Permitted During the School Day

• Baseball caps
• Skull caps
• Durags
• Bonnets
• Scarves worn as head coverings
• Other non-religious headwear

Students must store non-approved headwear in their lockers, cubbies, or designated storage areas during the school day and during after-school activities. Picks, combs, and brushes may not be worn in the hair.

• Bracelets and watches may not create sounds that disrupt learning.
• Smart watches must be stored in lockers, cubbies, or designated storage areas during the school day.
• Accessories that create a safety concern or disrupt the learning environment are not permitted.

The following items and clothing are not permitted:

• Clothing displaying inappropriate language, gestures, or obscene content
• Clothing that disrupts the educational environment
• Items that create safety concerns

All purses, backpacks, and book bags must be stored in lockers, closets, or designated storage areas during the school day
