Thurgood Marshall Elementary

Education at Thurgood Marshall is about collaboration. We know that every kindergarten through fifth grader who walks through our doors has a different set of needs and abilities, but we also believe in the potential of all children to become self-directed lifelong learners. As such, we strive to create an environment where we encourage our students to take risks and become creative producers. To do this, we work closely with parents, teachers, students, and community members, encouraging one another to look at challenges as opportunities in disguise and to take the time to celebrate achievement—both individually and collectively.

We Miss You!

A Message from Our Principal

Dear Thurgood Marshall Elementary School Parents and Students,

I hope you and your family continue to stay safe, uplifted in spite of this COVID-19 pandemic. I strongly recommend getting vaccinated as soon as possible. Many of our staff members have already received their first or second doses as we continue to work from school although we are missing our students and we can’t wait to return back to in-person learning in the fall of 2021.

We are continuing the guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). While we continue to make progress against COVID-19, we know that this situation continues to be fluid, and modifications to keeping our remote learning schedule are still necessary until the end of this 2020–2021 school year (June 8, 2021).

Warmest Regards,

Paul Anthony Glover
