Thurgood Marshall Elementary

Education at Thurgood Marshall is about collaboration. We know that every kindergarten through fifth grader who walks through our doors has a different set of needs and abilities, but we also believe in the potential of all children to become self-directed lifelong learners. As such, we strive to create an environment where we encourage our students to take risks and become creative producers. To do this, we work closely with parents, teachers, students, and community members, encouraging one another to look at challenges as opportunities in disguise and to take the time to celebrate achievement—both individually and collectively.

A Message from Our Principal

Dear Thurgood Marshall’s Families:

Wow! Where has the time gone? Thank you for a great school year! It has been a pleasure to serve you this past year at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School (TMES), and I am looking forward to another great year beginning in August. Reflecting back over the year, we have made strides in providing our students with activities that brought out their creativity and talents. From the band program to the art club, students were able to enjoy the experiences that were offered. I am proud of their accomplishments and the work they have done.

I would like to take the time to thank you for the support you have given your child and the Thurgood Marshall Family. Collectively, we worked together and got the job done! Congratulations to our fifth grade students as they move across the street and begin their middle school careers. As with the ending of every year, there are always new beginnings!

There are a number of new beginnings for our staff and we would like to express our appreciation for their commitment to our students and families of TMES. Ms. Doerr and Mr. Duval are taking a bow and saying goodbye as they live the next chapter of their lives in retirement. Mrs. Meza and Ms. Haralson are saying goodbye as they set her wings to fly to higher heights. Mrs. Conley and Mrs. Escobedo will take their skills to another school still servicing our students. Thank you for your hard work and dedication for our students!

There are countless people to whom I owe an expression of gratitude. Thank you to all. I look forward to our continued partnerships next school year. It has been an honor to have parents willingly dedicated and volunteer their time to help our students. I am forever grateful and welcome you to seize every opportunity to involve your child in various educational activities during the summer months.

On behalf of the administration and staff of Thurgood Marshall Elementary School, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a safe summer of fun and continuous learning.

See you in August!
