A Message from Our Principal

Dear Grant Families: 

As we “March” into the last few months of school, attendance continues to be an area of great concern. As you know, there is a direct correlation between student attendance and success in school. Late arrival, early dismissal, and absences interrupt the learning environment and the flow of instruction for the entire class. We realize there are situations for which you have no control, however, you must not keep students out of school for non-emergent matters. According to Illinois school law, they consider a student truant when he or she misses approximately nine days in a school year. We have an obligation to report excessive absenteeism to the Regional Office of Education’s Truancy Department. Please keep in mind that chronic attendance issues may result in grade retention, and parents may face legal action as enforced by Illinois education governing bodies. If you have any questions, please contact the school attendance officer. 

We are continuing on our amazing and innovative S.T.E.A.M. journey. We are looking forward to this year’s fair at Roosevelt Middle School on Wednesday, April 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The third quarter ends on Friday, March 15, and parent-teacher conferences are on Tuesday, March 26 from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. Please note that we will break from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you all there. 

The Illinois assessment of readiness testing begins this month. For the best results, consider turning off all screens one hour before bedtime. Get a good night’s sleep, and eat a good breakfast at home or at school. Be present and on time. We know that our students will do their very best.
